NCR’s COVID-19 positivity rate climbs to 12.4% — Octa

MANILA, Philippines – The seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila has risen to 12.4 percent, independent pandemic monitor Octa Research Group said Monday.

Octa fellow Guido David said the positivity rate in the capital region climbed from 11.1 percent on Nov. 26 to 12.4 percent as of Dec. 3.

The positivity rates also increased in several other areas across Luzon, he added.

“[National Capital Region] positivity rate increased from 11.1 percent to 12.4 percent. Increases observed in Bataan, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Quezon, Rizal, Zambales,” David said in a social media post.

From Nov. 26 to Dec. 3, these were the positivity rate hikes in the following areas in Luzon:

  • Metro Manila – 11.1 to 12.4 percent
  • Bataan – 9.7 to 11.2 percent
  • Cagayan – 18.2 to 21.4 percent
  • Camarines Sur – 27.7 to 38.8 percent
  • Ilocos Norte – 7.8 to 11.1 percent
  • Ilocos Sur – 32.9 to 36.2 percent
  • Laguna – 13.1 to 19.2 percent
  • Nueva Ecija – 32.9 to 39.1 percent
  • Pampanga – 8.3 to 10.6 percent
  • Pangasinan – 16.5 to 16.6 percent
  • Quezon – 7.2 to 13.3 percent
  • Rizal – 13.2 to 19.7 percent
  • Zambales – 6.1 to 10.7 percent

Meanwhile, Guido said a decrease was observed in the positivity rate in Albay (28.5 to 23.7 percent), Batangas (5.4 to 5.2 percent), Benguet (27 to 22.6 percent), Bulacan (7.6 to 6.8 percent), Cavite (11.7 to 11.6 percent), Isabela (44.4 to 38.6 percent), Kalinga (23.7 to 20.8 percent), La Union (22 to 20.4 percent), Mountain Province (15.4 to 11 percent), and Tarlac (36.5 to 25.3 percent).

The Department of Health on Sunday recorded 1,173 new COVID-19 cases in the country, bringing the total nationwide caseload to 4,041,023.
